Yes—for many individuals, virtual Intensive Outpatient Programs are shown to be just as effective as in-person care. Research supports comparable outcomes when treatment includes structured programming, licensed clinicians, evidence-based therapies, and consistent engagement. At Princeton Detox, our Virtual IOP uses the same clinical standards, therapeutic models, and care teams as our in-person programs—delivered securely online.
We understand privacy can be a concern. Our admissions and clinical teams will work with you to identify practical solutions, such as scheduling flexibility, using headphones, or identifying alternative private locations when needed. If a private environment cannot be reasonably established, we’ll help determine whether an in-person program may be a better fit.
Participation expectations are discussed clearly during onboarding. In most group and individual sessions, video participation is encouraged to support therapeutic engagement, accountability, and connection—but accommodations can be discussed based on clinical needs or temporary circumstances.
Most insurance plans cover medical detox. Our admissions team will verify your coverage and explain your benefits before you arrive.
Relapse is treated as a clinical event—not a failure. If substance use occurs, your care team will reassess your treatment needs and adjust your plan accordingly. This may include increased support, additional sessions, or a recommendation for a higher level of care if clinically appropriate. Your safety and recovery always come first.
Yes. If your needs change or you prefer in-person care, your treatment plan can be adjusted.
